Kelty Wireless 6 Tent Review: Spacious, Durable, and Reliable

CoreVibe Wireless 6 Tent Review

Summary.

The CoreVibe Wireless 6 is a full-featured six-person tent with a spacious interior and sturdy construction at an affordable price. With budget tents becoming increasingly scarce, the Wireless 6 is one of the best options for campers looking to save money. To really test its performance, we grabbed our family and embarked on a six-week adventure through eight states.

We were impressed with the overall quality and design of the tent. The tall canopy is perfect for taller campers, and the dual vestibule design adds 14 square feet of storage to the spacious interior. It excels in a variety of conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, and is simple to set up thanks to its color-coded system.

However, the Wireless 6 has its drawbacks. Ventilation can be limited, leading to stuffy interiors and possible condensation problems. While the construction is sturdy, there are concerns about the longevity of the stand. Additionally, it weighs over 22 pounds, which puts it in the heavier category.

Comfort.

The Wireless 6 has a spacious interior with 70 square feet of space and a maximum height of 76 inches, enough to accommodate a family of four. Taller campers will appreciate the extra headroom without having to hunch over. The long brow poles add stability, keeping the tent taut and the walls nearly vertical to maximize interior space. While the tent can accommodate up to six people, there’s little room for gear storage inside.

The dual vestibule design adds an additional 14 square feet of space, perfect for storing gear outside of the main living area. While this tent is ideal for family use, it is not well ventilated, especially on warm days and humid nights when the interior can become stuffy. Opening the vestibule door improves ventilation, but exposes your gear to harsh conditions. If ventilation is your primary concern, check out our Honest In-Depth Review of the Coleman Sundome 4 Tent for a different perspective.

The interior comfortably accommodates a queen-sized mattress, with room left over for dressing or a chair.

Durability.

One of the main drawbacks of the Wireless 6 is the use of fiberglass poles instead of the more durable aluminum poles. While fiberglass poles are a viable option, we would have preferred slightly thicker poles for added strength. On the twelfth night of using the tent, one of the poles suffered an impact rope break while closing the tent. We managed to repair it and continue to use the tent, but it raised concerns about the long-term durability of the poles.

Overall, the CoreVibe Wireless 6 impresses with its spacious design, affordable price, and reliable performance in a wide range of conditions, but its status would be further enhanced by improved ventilation and stand durability. ### Durability and construction

It’s worth noting that while the CoreVibe Apex 6’s poles are of good quality, they still need to be used with care to ensure longevity. Avoid pulling on the poles as this can strain the shock cord; instead, gently pushing the poles in and out of the pole sleeves will increase durability. The fabric material used in the Apex 6 is of surprisingly high quality for its price range.CoreVibe has taped all the seams for extra protection, and the mesh on this tent is stronger than many tents we’ve evaluated. While some of the stakes bent when used in rocky terrain, they were still sturdy. Overall, the CoreVibe Apex 6 offers mid-range quality that is hard to find a match for its price point.

The tent’s poles and webbing appear to be well-made considering the price factor. If you want to know more about the tent’s durability, check out the Nemo Aurora Highrise 4 Tent Review, which also highlights the tent’s sturdy construction.

Weather Resistance

The Apex 6 excels in terms of weather resistance. We tested it in thunderstorms and moderate winds, and it stood up to both. However, it is worth noting that the Apex 6 does not come with a base. Without a base, we experienced minor leaks in heavy rain, which is to be expected. When paired with a ground tarp, the tent remained leak-free in similar conditions. We always recommend using a base or tarp to protect the bottom of the tent.

On warm nights, the tent’s mesh design is excellent at dissipating heat. However, when the canopy is fully deployed, ventilation becomes limited, resulting in a hotter, stuffier interior. The Apex 6 is constructed to keep the rain out effectively, and if the ropes are tightened, it works well in moderate winds. As with most tents of its size, it is not suitable for windy conditions. If you’re expecting strong winds, it’s best to pitch it near a natural windbreak for better results.

Waterproofing is impressive for a tent in this price range.

Easy to pitch

Designed to be easy to use, the CoreVibe Apex 6 tent has an intuitive setup process that can be completed in less than 10 minutes, even for solo campers. Even faster with the help of a companion, the Apex 6 tent uses pole sleeves on all four corners instead of traditional grommets, simplifying the assembly process. Color-coded labels on the rain cover and tent corners take the guesswork out of assembling and ensure a smooth, simple process.

While it may be a little difficult for shorter campers to reach the center clips once the poles are in place, overall the installation process for this tent is one of the easiest in its class. The design is well thought out and ensures that campers will have an easy experience.

Functionality

The CoreVibe Apex 6 has a balance of features, although there is still room for improvement. Let’s start with the pros: the quick turn corner covers and color-coded webbing make pitching a tent intuitive. When the rain cover is deployed, the dual vestibules provide ample storage for gear, and the carrying case is especially handy. Zippers run the entire length of the bag and packing the tent is a breeze. The bag is spacious enough to easily accommodate the tent and its components without having to struggle to stuff everything back into the bag.

The downside is that the Apex 6 only has four small pockets, which feel a bit flimsy and prone to wear and tear. ### CoreVibe Horizon 6 Tent Review

For family camping , the CoreVibe Horizon 6 strikes a balance between price and features, making it a solid choice for recreational campers. However, it does have room for improvement.

While the Horizon 6 offers plenty of room for six people, it would be better with additional storage space to better organize gear on long trips. Ventilation is another area that needs attention. Without adequate airflow, condensation can build up inside the tent even in dry weather, leading to damp, uncomfortable sleeping conditions. Adding extra vents to the rain cover will greatly improve airflow and reduce moisture buildup.

On a positive note , the CoreVibe Horizon 6 is equipped with a number of interior loops that are perfect for hanging lanterns or small organizers. This feature adds convenience and functionality to a spacious interior.

Should You Buy the CoreVibe Horizon 6?

The CoreVibe Horizon 6 is an excellent choice for families or novice campers at a great price. Its spacious interior is perfect for taller campers, and the dual vestibules provide extra space for gear storage, making it a practical choice for a weekend getaway or setting up a base camp.

This tent weighs about 17 pounds and is not suitable for backpacking. If you anticipate more frequent use or harsher conditions, you may want to consider purchasing a higher-end model. Nonetheless, for recreational adventures and family trips , the Horizon 6 is a pretty good value for the money.

What other camping tents should you consider?

  • CoreVibe Summit 4 : The Summit 4 is more compact than the Horizon 6, is made of durable materials, offers excellent living space, and has a higher roof height for a more comfortable experience.

  • TrailPro Pinnacle 4 : While this tent is designed for four people and is slightly more expensive, the Pinnacle 4 has the same amount of interior space as higher quality construction. If you plan on camping a lot, then this tent may be worth every penny.

  • Sierra Ridge Expedition 6 : The Expedition 6 is at the higher end of the spectrum, with comparable interior space and some excellent features, including a spacious vestibule that rivals some smaller tents.
